His early career and training were in the classical field and with a performance arts degree under his belt he studied and completed performance and teaching diplomas at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London.

After leaving the Guildhall he began performing as an Operatic Tenor with the prestigious and highly-acclaimed company Opera North, where he toured the theatres in the north of England and also in Europe. In 1999 he followed a tour of Thailand, Malaysia and Australia by working with Opera New Zealand in Auckland where he stayed and worked for 18 months.

In spite of his success in the classical world, Mark always loved listening to and playing jazz whenever he could and so it seemed an inevitable move to him to follow his heart to the world of jazz. This year he has put together the exciting Triptych Jazz Trio with the popular Gianni Boscarino on keyboards and the excellent Costa Tancredi on bass. The trio can play sets from 30s swing and blues through to the smooth, contemporary jazz sounds of bossas and latin jazz.
